Al Quds University (AQU), the German Representative Office and the GIZ celebrated the signing of 42 new partnership agreements of its Dual Studies Program with private sector companies and banks. All together the Program has now more than 100 partnerships, which is a major success as the private sector is the essential element of the innovative Dual Studies. The Dual Studies Program at AQU is implemented with support from the German Government.
A Celebration Ceremony at the AQU Campus in Abu Dis was attended by Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek, AQU President, Peter Beerwerth, Head of the German Representative Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as well as representatives of partner companies, deans and department heads at AQU, faculty and Dual Studies staff.
His Excellency Peter Beerwerth, Head of the German Representative Office in Ramallah, expressed great delight with the Dual Studies partnership: “We congratulate Al Quds University and all partner companies for this unique partnership as we are very proud of supporting the introduction of the first Dual Studies Program in Palestine and even in the whole region. The high interest of the private sector in and their strong commitment to this new program reveal its high potential for the future of the Palestinian labour market. We highly appreciate their commitment and count on them for the future of this program.”
Prof. Dr. Abu Kishek stressed the importance of the Dual Studies Program for activating a synergistic relationship between the academic and the private and public sectors. He also expressed his pride of Al-Quds University’s achievement in reaching more than 100 partners and he thanked their cooperation and commitment as well as their support towards our students. Prof. Dr. Abu Kishek is looking forward to expanding the partnerships with more companies in the future.
The AQU Dual Study Program draws upon almost 44 years of German experience in programs of this type. To ensure that implementation is well adapted to local conditions, the university is working closely with its German partners, namely The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), KfW

Development Bank, GFA Consulting Group (GFA), Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW), and the Steinbeis Foundation.
Due to the close collaboration between AQU and the private sector, the Program links academic education with labor market needs. It aims at educating young people to be one hundred percent ready for the labor market. AQU is the only Palestinian university which is introducing three dual study courses in electrical engineering, information technology and business administration. By now, 124 students are enrolled, thereof 50 female students.
